The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) is the United Nations agency responsible for the promotion of responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism.
As the leading international organization in the field of tourism, UNWTO promotes tourism as a driver of economic growth, inclusive development and environmental sustainability and offers leadership and support to the sector in advancing knowledge and tourism policies worldwide.
UNWTO’s membership includes 156 countries, 6 Associate Members and over500 Affiliate Members representing the private sector, educational institutions, tourism associations and local tourism authorities.
Mr. Natuman attended the annual UNWTO 22nd UNWTO General Assembly.
In an interview with United Nations World Tourism Organization, Natuman strongly urges that “it is time, the Tourism Sector is well developed by various stakeholders, particularly the Government”
Mr. Natuman says “We need to develop the industry, look to grow the economy, at the same time make tourism beneficial for the future generations”
“We cannot think about ourselves anymore”
“For Vanuatu, we do not have a lot of resources, we have only our people, our culture, our environment and we put a lot of emphasis on the land and the sea as they generate money”
“We find in Vanuatu, that a lot of disadvantaged groups particularly women benefit a lot from Tourism and they do participate the most with Tourism activities”
