Vanuatu’s loses it longest serving member of Parliament

Port Vila MP Edward Nipake Natapei Tuta Fanua`araki elected to Parliament in 1983 and a former Prime Minister of Vanuatu passed away in the early hours of this morning. Mr. Natapei is also the leader for the opposition, and current President for Vanuu’aku Pati, Vanuatu biggest political party.

The Country has been celebrating its Independence Anniversary throughout the country and the news has come as a shock as the man who has spearheaded a lot of developments for Vanuatu has died at the age of 61.

Natapei has inspired the young generation of Vanuatu for his support for ICT through his involvment in the setting up of Yumi Toktok Stret, Vanuatu’s biggest social media organisation.

Mr. Natapei has celebrated his birthday a week ago. He will be missed by the Vanuatu people.
