The Tafea Independence Celebrations 2015 launched

The 35th Independence celebrations for Tafea Province, hosted by the Tafea Provincial Government, have been officially launched by the President of Tafea Province Job Situ.

The two week long celebration also coincides with the first ever “Rebuilding Tafea Sectoral Summit” being held at Laminu this week.

A short March by the leaders of Lenakel was staged to begin the day. The Chairman of the Tafea Independence celebrations Joe Nare Mete says “the March organised was short and silent. The initial plan was for a long and very colourful march with a lot of noise but due to unfortunate circumstance we opted for a silent march. The silent march was also in remembrance for all the loved ones we lost to Cyclone PAM”

The celebrations will pick up pace from the 24th July 2015. The Summit commences this morning and still see’s delegates arriving from around Tafea Province.

Also attending the celebrations is Tanna MP Joe Natuman.
