New Caledonia and Nauru rugby women’s teams will participate for the first time in the 2018 Oceania 7s Championship on November 9-10 at the ANZ Stadium, Suva.
Tournament co-ordinator Inoke Bainimarama said preparations are on track as they are expecting a good turnout.
“Preparations for the Oceania 7s have been really good and all teams are preparing well,” Bainimarama said.
“The teams will start arriving on Tuesday before the games start on Thursday.
“Already we have Tuvalu and Vanuatu mens’ 7s teams already here.
“This year we also have two women’s team competing for the first time at the Oceania 7s, New Caledonia and Nauru.
“And also this is an historic moment for Nauru as it will be their first ever national women team competing.
“During the two-day competition we will be having other series of programmes like training and workshops.
“Tickets are available at the Fiji National Sports Council and we have had impressive sales so far and hopefully in the coming days we will expect the numbers to increase.
