“On behalf of all VFF Staff, Exco Members and football families of Vanuatu, I wish to take this opportunity to extend our most sincere and heartfelt gratitude to you all for accepting the call for VFF to lead our 2017 Senior National Team to Honiara at a very short notice”.

“It was a moment of maintaining respect and pride to our football, specially at the eve of the Anniversary of our Independence.”

Vanuatu started the match as the better side, dominating the game inside the first 20 minutes, with star player Bong Kalo having multiple shots on goal but barely troubling the impressive Bonito keeper, Philip Mango.

The hosts opted to a more defensive style of play, but found more rhythm heading into the middle of the first half with the ever impressive Micah Lea’alafa continuously causing havoc for the Vanuatu defense.

Solomon Islands is using the match to prepare its two-legged final with New Zealand to be contested over August 28 and September 5.

Vanuatu is tallying up this match to play Fiji and New Caledonia next before they meet Estonia on November 23 this year.
