The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of The Bahamas has expressed the country’s condolences to the Government and people of Vanuatu on the passing of Vanuatu’s President, Reverend Baldwin Lonsdale.
Vanuatu sits in the South Pacific Ocean, and like The Bahamas, is internationally classified as a Small Island Developing State (SIDS). Vanuatu also shares membership, with The Bahamas, in the Commonwealth of Nations. The Bahamas has maintained cordial diplomatic relations with Vanuatu since 1998.
The Bahamas has expressed condolences to President Lonsdale’s family and to the Government and people of Vanuatu.

King Mohammed VI of Morocco also sent his message of condolence and compassion to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Acting President of the Republic of Vanuatu, Esmon Saimon, following the death of Vanuatu President Baldwin Lonsdale.
In his message of condolence and compassion, King Mohammed VI expressed to Esmon Saimon and, through him, to the family of the deceased and to the people of Vanuatu, his deepest condolences and sincere feelings of compassion for the loss of one an experienced statesman who enjoyed the esteem of all, imploring the Almighty to grant them consolation and comfort and to welcome the deceased into His Heavenly Kingdom and to surround Him with His holy mercy.
Meanwhile H.E. Late Womtelo Reverend Baldwin Lonsdale has departed Port Vila in an Air Vanuatu aircraft bound for Sola in the Torba Province, after a state funeral service at the Parliament House of Vanuatu in Port Vila.
